    • The Global Studies Institute for which the positions were advertised is a new initiative by GSU. They were seeking to hire a new Director in early 2014. I have not come across a website for this Institute. It is probable that they are using existing staff members to do double duty and process the applications. This might explain the lack of any confirmation emails.
    • For what it's worth - I received a confirmation email when I applied (I believe it was around the 1st of December). In addition, whether or not they've already invited candidates, the search has apparently been an internal nightmare. The director who agreed to get the institute off-the-ground bailed at the last minute, so GSU has been doing a big "reshuffle," and from what I've heard, the search has been delayed because of this

  • To the above poster - when did you receive an email requesting an interview? <--- I pulled this information from the Cultural Anthropology wiki.  I'm not sure when the emails were sent, as no date is indicated.
    • I received an email about interview availability on March 16, but I've heard nothing since. I also heard, on good authority, that "open rank" is a joke. Allegedly, they want only associates and above. (I'm not, so the interview request shocked me. But then again, I've heard nothing since, so who knows...)

The Graduate Institute of International and Development Studies (CHE - Geneva) - International History

  • No. But they were all Middle Eastern experts. Why bother soliciting applications from so many more scholars if they were just going to focus on one area. Waste of time for them and the applicants.
