Baruch College, CUNY (NY) - Women/Gender in Colonial America and/or the early American Republic

  • The Department of History at Baruch College of the City University of New York invites applicants for a tenure-track assistant professorship in the history of Women/Gender in Colonial America and/or the early American Republic to begin August 2018.

Bucknell University (PA) - TT Asst. Professor of Women's and Gender Studies and Modernist Literature

  • Bucknell University’s Department of Women’s and Gender Studies invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position beginning in the Fall semester of 2018.
  • We seek a women’s/gender/sexuality studies teacher-scholar with expertise in modernist literature. In addition to courses related to their particular area(s) of expertise, the successful candidate must have demonstrated ability to teach Introduction to Women’s and Gender Studies and upper-level courses in areas such as history of sexuality, women’s literary history, modernism, and/or feminist theory, as well as courses that contribute to Bucknell’s general education curriculum.
  • Evidence of teaching excellence is required. The successful candidate must have an active program of scholarship and a track record of active support for diversity and inclusive, innovative pedagogy. A Ph.D. degree is required.

California Polytechnic State University San Luis Obispo (CA) - TT Asst. Professor - Religion and Gender / Religion and Science and Technology

  • RELIGIOUS STUDIES/WOMEN'S & GENDER STUDIES - The Philosophy and Women's & Gender Studies Departments at California Polytechnic State University in San Luis Obispo, CA, seek applications for a full-time (academic year), tenure-track Assistant Professor to begin September 13, 2018. Area of Specialization (AOS): Religion and Gender; Area of Competence (AOC): Religion and Science & Technology. A doctorate (Ph.D.) in Religious Studies or closely related Liberal Arts field from an accredited institution is required and must be conferred by the time of appointment. Graduate coursework in, previous teaching experience in, and/or other demonstrated knowledge of the field of Women's & Gender Studies is preferred. Candidates must be able to show a successful record of research and teaching in the AOS and/or the AOC. Salary is commensurate with qualifications and experience.
  • The position will be 2/3 Religious Studies and 1/3 Women's & Gender Studies, with the tenure home in the Philosophy department. Faculty review will include consultation with Women's & Gender Studies. Any publications in area of specialization will count towards tenure and promotion, whether published in Religious Studies, Women's & Gender Studies, or other relevant and appropriate peer-reviewed journals. Teaching and service assignments will be divided between the Philosophy Department and the Women's & Gender Studies Department in agreed upon proportions. Faculty members are also expected to engage in service activities at all levels of the university and to provide academic advising to students.
  • The typical teaching load is 12 units per quarter, with correspondingly reasonable research/scholarship and service expectations and with a significant reduction in course load in the first one to two years to help establish an active program of research/scholarship/creative activity and professional development.

California State University-Fullerton (CA) - TT Asst. Professor - Queer Studies

  • The Department of Women and Gender Studies at California State University, Fullerton, invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position in Queer Studies with appointment to begin Fall 2018.   • Women & Gender Studies at CSUF is seeking a Queer Studies scholar with a background in Cultural Studies. Our new colleague will be a scholar/teacher who combines Queer History with an emphasis in local queer history and culture in the Southern California region. Our new colleague must be able to teach WGST 100, Introduction to Gender in the Humanities as well as the main classes for the Queer Studies minor, including WGST 360: Politics of Sexuality, WGST 105: Introduction to Queer Studies, WGST 420: Queer Theory, and WGST 350: Research Methods, as well as other General Education and Upper Division classes in the Women & Gender Studies major and minor.
  • Main responsibilities of this position are to develop and teach introductory and core Queer Studies and Women and Gender Studies courses. Department faculty members are also expected to develop courses in their areas of specialization. California State University, Long Beach (CA) - TT Assistant Professor in Women’s, Gender, and Sexuality Studies

  • MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: PhD in humanities or social science with expertise in the fluid and contingent nature of gender and sexuality. Degree at time of application or official notification of completion of the doctoral degree by August 1, 2018. Demonstrated effectiveness for teaching and research in Trans Studies, broadly defined. This can include a trans methodology which articulates how transgender, transnationalism, and/or other possible critical iterations of “trans” integrates analysis across established categories of gender, nation, race, and sexuality and highlights relationships among these categories. Demonstrated record of excellence in the following areas: teaching interdisciplinary gender and sexuality studies; research and publishing in fields relevant to trans studies; capacity for student mentorship; aptitude for service at all levels of the university. Demonstrated commitment to working successfully with a diverse student population. An interest in innovative directions and scholarship in Trans Studies.

Carleton College (MN) - TT Assistant Professor in LGTBQ Studies - Women's & Gender Studies and Cinema & Media Studies

College of Wooster (OH) - TT Assistant Professor of Women's, Gender, and Sexuality Studies

  • The Women's, Gender, and Sexuality Studies (WGSS) Program invites applications for a tenure-track assistant professor of WGSS to begin in August 2018. We seek a candidate with strong general background in Women's/Gender/Sexuality/ Queer/Feminist Studies (WGSQFS) and a specialty area in transnational feminisms, women of color feminisms, and/or LGBTQ Studies. The teaching load is 5.5, which includes advising senior Independent Study thesis projects and teaching Introduction to WGSS, an interdisciplinary course in feminist methodologies, a Senior Seminar Feminist Pedagogy in Action, upper-level courses in transnational feminisms, LGBTQ Studies, and/or Histories of Feminist Thought, and the college-wide First Year Seminar.
  • A Ph.D. in an interdisciplinary field focused on WGSQFS is preferred, although applicants who hold a degree in another field with a graduate certificate or significant interdisciplinary training in WGSQFS are welcome to apply. Prior teaching experience is desirable and applicants should provide evidence of their ability to teach introductory and upper-level courses. Dartmouth College (NH) - TT Asst. Professor - Transnational Feminism

  • The Women's, Gender, and Sexuality Studies Program at Dartmouth College invites applications for a new full-time Assistant Professor (tenure-track) position in transnational feminism, to begin as early as July 1, 2018.
  • The specific area of specialization within the field of transnational feminism is open, but preference will be given to candidates whose transnational work and perspective concentrate on the Asias in the comparative sense. We furthermore understand "transnational” not only in a geographic way, but also in terms of flows and intersections across established boundaries and bodies of knowledge.
  • The successful applicant will be a scholar with strong theoretical expertise and interdisciplinary training and will show extraordinary promise in both the areas of scholarly publications and teaching excellence. Qualifications include a Ph.D., although candidates who are ABD and in their final year of a Ph.D. program will also be considered. Applicants should be prepared to teach introductory-level and survey courses in the core Women's, Gender, and Sexuality Studies curriculum as well as courses in the field of transnational feminism, including courses that help support the Women's, Gender, and Sexuality Studies Foreign Study Program in Hyderabad, India. Normal department service is required.

Gustavus Adolphus College (MN) - TT Asst. Professor - 20th/21st C. French/Francophone Culture and Transnational/Global Feminism

  • Position Details: Gustavus Adolphus College invites applications for the tenure-track position of Assistant Professor (or Associate with appropriate qualifications) with dual appointment to the Modern Languages, Literatures, and Cultures Department (MLC) and Gender, Women, and Sexuality Studies Program (GWS) to begin September 1, 2018.
  • Minimum Required Qualifications: We seek candidates who have an earned doctorate, but will consider candidates who have achieved ABD status. The successful candidate will have both 20th/21st Century French and Francophone culture and transnational/global feminism among their specializations and competencies. Candidates must have demonstrated excellence in teaching and at least three years of experience in undergraduate teaching and advising at all levels in both French and gender studies. In order to be considered for appointment to the Associate Professor level, candidates must demonstrate an emerging pattern of professional activities (e.g., publications, presentations, involvement in professional organizations).
  • Preferred Qualifications: Ability to support teaching needs in Francophone women writers, women and the holocaust, and/or women and genocide is desirable. Lawrence University (WI) - TT Asst. Professor in Gender Studies

  • Lawrence University, a 1500-student select liberal arts college in northeast Wisconsin with a conservatory of music, has a new tenure line position in Gender Studies. Candidates will have a Ph.D. in Gender Studies or certificate in Gender Studies with scholarly interests in one of the following (or a related area): transnational feminism, gender and ecology, gender and violence, gender and race, gender and disabilities, or gender and neuroscience.

Washington University in St. Louis (MO) - Assistant or Associate Professor of Women, Gender, and Sexuality Studies and Ethnic Studies

  • The Department of Women, Gender, and Sexuality Studies at Washington University in St. Louis seeks a scholar trained in Ethnic Studies. We see this category as including not only the traditional fields associated with such programs—Chicanx and Latinx Studies, Indigenous Studies, and Asian American Studies—but Diasporic Studies and scholars who think about the workings of ethnicity around the world. We will privilege candidates who demonstrate an ability to teach courses in our core curriculum such as Introduction to Women, Gender, and Sexuality, Feminist Methodologies, Feminist Theory, and Sexuality Studies. We particularly encourage applications from candidates whose work is interdisciplinary in nature.

University of Wisconsin-Madison (WI) - Wittig Postdoctoral Fellowship in Feminst Biology

  • The Wittig Postdoctoral Fellows Program in Feminist Biology offers the opportunity to combine research in a Fellow’s specific area of interest with teaching at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. We seek a highly motivated new or recent PhD in one of the biological sciences or public health or MD, who wants to develop research skills in an area of biology related to gender and teaching skills in feminist approaches to biology. The position is also open to a mid-career or senior scholar, for example on sabbatical. Research can be conducted in any hosting faculty lab at the University; the agreement to host should be specified in the research proposal. Each year the Fellow will also teach one undergraduate course per semester for the Department of Gender & Women’s Studies such as GWS 530, Biology and Gender. GWS will provide mentorship in teaching as well as in feminist theory and methods.
