Assistant Professor - English Education The English Department at Western Carolina University invites applications for a Tenure-track Assistant (or Advanced Assistant) Professor position in Secondary English Education. Expertise in and ability to teach graduate and undergraduate secondary English methods courses. Supervision of student teachers. Experience in secondary schools, evidence of effective teaching, and active scholarship are also required. Desirable secondary areas include grammar, TESOL, business/technical writing, composition and/or most historical literary fields. Interest in or experience with teaching diverse populations and in rural schools desirable. NC 9-12 ELA Licensure eligibility required. Degree in English, Secondary Ed, or related field from an accredited institution required; doctorate in hand preferred but ABD close to completion considered.

The Department of English at WCU is an engaged and collegial English department with a strong, regionally-recognized English Education program. Standard load 3/3 (with internship supervision usually counting as part of that load).
