TECHNICAL DIRECTOR @ the University of Scranton

Oversee the design aspects and technical direction for all University Players Main Stage and Studio Theatre Productions. Assists with the building of all sets for the University Players' theatrical season (usually consisting of a five-show mainstage season and two-show workshop studio season). Collaborates with directors & designers in order to set deadlines for technical elements (sets, lights, costumes, etc.) of University Players productions. Supervises all activities connected with the program's Scene Shop. Provides ad hoc instruction to students on the safe & efficient use of Scene Shop tools & equipment & production equipment. Supervises Work Study students assigned to the Scene Shop.Handles basic upkeep & maintenance of equipment in the Scene Shop & the two CLP Theatre spaces. Makes sure that all Scene Shop & production tools & equipment & all Scene Shop activities comply with relevant safety regulations & procedures. Develops practices & procedures intended to keep the Scene Shop running in an efficient & well-organized fashion. Participates (along with full-time theatre faculty) in a supervisory capacity on the University Players' Council and provides (subject to review & approval by the Director of Theatre and the CAS Dean) occasional professional support to other campus projects. Master in Fine Arts (MFA) in Technical Theatre and working knowledge of scenic construction, welding, and rigging are required. Excellent time management and interpersonal communication skills are required. Experience working with undergraduate students is preferred.
