Qualifications:  Required:  Ph.D. in Spanish. ACTFL Superior in Spanish and fluent in English; demonstrated potential for teaching and scholarly excellence; ability to teach a broad range of Spanish language courses and a broad range of courses in Latin American literature and culture, including upper division General Education courses in English and in Spanish and graduate seminars; ability to teach and develop courses in Spanish for the professions; ability to teach and develop courses in translation studies and to teach courses in online and blended environments. Applicants should have awareness of and sensitivity to the educational goals of a multicultural population as might have been gained in cross-cultural study, training, teaching, and other comparable experience. 

Strongly desired: Specialization in Mexican literature and culture. Ability to employ successfully technology-mediated instruction. 

Responsibilities: Candidate must address the needs of a student population of great diversity - in age, cultural background, ethnicity, primary language, and academic preparation -through course materials, teaching strategies, and advisement. Teach courses of any level in Spanish including graduate seminars; collaborate in the creation of a Certificate in Translation Studies; coordinate courses in Spanish for professional aims for Special Session and Self-Support; coordinate the Latin American Studies minor. Academic assignment will include advising and recruitment of students and appropriate committee work. A strong record of scholarly publication in Latin American Literature and/or Translation Studies is required for tenure and promotion.

Salary Range: Commensurate with qualifications and experience.

Starting Date: August 21, 2014
