Required Skills and Experience

The position requires expertise in teaching composition at multiple levels, including basic writing, accelerated models, ESL supported composition, WAC/WID models, digital rhetoric and above all, teaching to a diverse population of undergraduates at varying stages of academic readiness. Experience with course management systems (i.e., Moodle) and classroom media such as smart boards is essential. Research experience, participation in discipline specific professional associations and publications will be given favorable consideration.

University of Washington (WA) - Lectureship, Interdisciplinary Writing Program

One full-time 9 month three year renewable term lecturer position beginning September 2015. Ph.D. required. Full-time teaching assignment is five undergraduate courses per academic year. These are composition courses linked with lecture courses in various disciplines such as Astronomy, Biology, Psychology, Information Science, Philosophy, History, Geography and Political Science. Job responsibilities include curriculum development, collaboration with discipline faculty, mentoring graduate student instructors teaching IWP courses and IWP program committee work. Applicants must have a record of success either teaching writing at the college level or using writing as a way of teaching in a discipline. Composition and rhetoric background and experience in working with natural science writing and/or English language learners are also highly desirable.
