Boğaziçi University (TUR) - Asst. Professor, English Renaissance Literature

The Department of Western Languages and Literatures at Boğaziçi University, Istanbul, invites applications for a full-time Assistant Professor position, to be filled by a foreign national, in English Renaissance literature with a primary focus on Shakespeare. We particularly welcome candidates with a strong background in medieval literature. The successful candidate will teach courses spanning from the medieval to contemporary literature as well as courses in his or her area of specialization. The applicants must hold a PhD in English literature, have a strong commitment to teaching, and have academic publications. Responsibilities include teaching two courses per semester, thesis supervision at the undergraduate and graduate levels, and undertaking administrative duties.

The appointment will begin in Fall 2015 with a base salary currently ranging between 3100-4200 TL per month (after taxes are deducted) subject to a yearly renewable contract, and will include state health insurance.

I. General requirements (see also Additional requirements under each track): Except otherwise specified, minimum requirements include a Ph.D. in a track-related field and a strong publication record. All fulltime faculty members are required to teach DFLL service courses such as English writing, English conversation, and Freshman English and are obligated to direct theses and serve on various university and department committees and as mentors. The English department at Occidental College, a highly selective liberal arts institution in Los Angeles, seeks applicants for a tenure track position of Assistant Professor with a specialization in either medieval or Renaissance English literature. Candidates should be able to teach standard surveys in a period that ranges from Beowulf to Milton, as well as specialized, upper-division courses in both the medieval and Renaissance periods. In addition, all members of the faculty are expected to contribute regularly to the college's first year general education program in cultural studies.
