Aarhus University (DK) - Associate Professorship in the Study of Religion

The School of Culture and Society invites applications for an associate professorship in the study of religion. The associate professorship is a permanent position which begins on 01.01.2016 or as soon as possible thereafter.

The position: We are seeking an innovative and dedicated candidate who will contribute to Aarhus University’s core activities in the areas of research, education, talent development and knowledge exchange. The position focuses on the interdisciplinary psychology of religion and the new experimental science of religion. The future associate professor is expected to help further the integration of the interdisciplinary psychology of religion within the study of religion at the Department of the Study of Religion through teaching and research at the highest international level. She or he will be situated within the department’s Religion, Cognition and Culture Research Unit.

Research: The School of Culture and Society emphasises high-quality research and attaches great importance to interdisciplinary collaboration, participation in collective research projects, and the ability to attract external research funding.

We are looking for a candidate with a strong profile and track record in the study of religion, as well as experimental expertise in psychology, neurocognition and the cognitive science of religion.

We are particularly interested in a candidate whose training and research integrates the above-mentioned fields. The associate professor will be expected to develop collaborative research initiatives locally and internationally.

Chicago Theological Seminary (IL) - Practical Theology

Chicago Theological Seminary invites applications for a full-time, three-year term (with potential for conversion to tenure-track) position in Practical Theology to begin July 1, 2016. We have special interests in Homiletics, Pastoral Care, and Psychology and Religion. Applications from scholars with strengths in the areas of mujerista, feminist, womanist, queer, and/or interreligious approaches to the practice of ministry are encouraged. Ph.D. required, experience with online learning preferred. Applicants should share the seminarys historic commitments to social justice and the care of persons, and be able to teach in six degree programs (MA, MARL, MDiv, STM, DMin, PhD) with several concentrations. The successful candidate will have a scholarly trajectory and be committed to developing a professional profile that includes publication.

Creighton University (NE) - Theology

Creighton University Department of Theology seeks a candidate who wishes to teach (primarily undergraduates and some graduates) at a Jesuit-Catholic University in a department committed to the Christian theological traditions. For this position, we seek a candidate in the area of Faith and Culture. The applicant should be trained in Christian theology and may specialize in any area that addresses Faith and Culture, including (but not limited to) comparative theology, American religion, science and religion, or Christianity and modern atheism. The individual selected will teach various courses in theology including a required freshman introductory theology course. There is an expectation of an active research agenda and service to the Department, the College of Arts and Sciences, and the University. This position will be full-time, tenure track at the rank of Assistant Professor, beginning in August of 2016.

Saint Mary's College of California (CA) - Theology and Religious Studies

Saint Marys College of California invites applications for a tenure-track position in Theology & Religious Studies. We seek a theologian and teacher in the tradition of the Second Vatican Council. There are two options for the preferred area of specialization. The first is Theological Anthropology, especially as it relates to contemporary areas of concern, e.g., gender and sexuality, human dignity and justice. The second is Comparative Theology, with an emphasis on Global Christianity / World Catholicism, e.g., interfaith dialogue, expressions of Catholicism across the globe, or the interaction between theology and issues of justice. Our student body is diverse, and we seek a candidate who can speak and relate to students of color, minorities, and women. Washington University in St. Louis (MO) - Senior Professor of U.S. Religion and Politics

WASHINGTON UNIVERSITY IN ST. LOUIS, John C. Danforth Center on Religion and Politics, invites applications and nominations across the humanities and social sciences for a senior (tenured) faculty position, to begin as early as July 1, 2016. Candidates should have a strong record of scholarly publication on religion and politics in the United States. The disciplinary field is open, but the Center is particularly interested in identifying candidates trained in sociology, anthropology, political science, or a related field. Duties for the position will include undergraduate and graduate teaching, conducting and publishing research, as well as participating in Center governance and wider university service.

Princeton University (NJ) - Visiting Lecturer - American Religion

Princeton University seeks distinguished candidates for a Visiting Lecturer in American Studies with a special focus on Religion. The candidate is expected to team-teach with current faculty the gateway course to the program. Preference will be given to candidates who have had extensive experience teaching in American Studies and in interdisciplinary courses. We are especially interested in scholars whose work focuses on: the intersections of religion and sexual politics, including topics such as feminism, reproductive rights, and sexualization; religion and popular culture; religion and racial politics. Purdue University (IN) - Program Manager (Mapping Chinese Spiritual Capital Project)

The Center on Religion and Chinese Society (CRCS) is seeking a Program Manager for the Mapping Chinese Spiritual Capital Project, a three-year initiative to expand the social scientific study of religion in China. We will pursue three interrelated goals: mapping the religious landscape and the changing religious markets in China; assessing spiritual capital in the emerging civil society; and nourishing the growing field through publishing first-rate research in a new journal, the Review of Religion and Chinese Society.

The Program Manager will coordinate international conferences that will bring together committee members, advisors, and invited scholars in the United States, Europe, and China. In addition, the successful applicant will supervise research assistants, postdoctoral researchers, and visiting scholars, including arranging lecture series or planning symposia at Purdue. The Program Manager will also develop and maintain bilingual publicity and fundraising materials of the Center, and she or he will help submit periodic reports related to the Mapping Chinese Spiritual Capital Project.

University of Hong Kong (HK) Non-TT Professor in the Centre of Buddhist Studies (2 yr. fixed term - renewable)

Applications are invited for appointment as Non-Tenure Track Professor in the Centre of Buddhist Studies, to commence from September 1, 2016 or as soon as possible thereafter, on a two-year fixed-term basis, with the possibility of renewal. The successful candidate will be considered for the conferment of Endowed Professorship, with the title of Glorious Sun Professor in Buddhist Studies.

Applicants must possess a Ph.D. degree in Buddhist studies with at least six years of teaching and supervision experience in a recognized tertiary institution. The appointee is expected to make a substantial contribution to the Centre's strategic development and in fostering academic collaborations locally, regionally and internationally. He/She should be able to demonstrate international peer recognition and world leadership in their area of expertise and have an established record of research and publications. The appointee will be required to lead the development of interdisciplinary and collaborative research initiatives. He/She should be able to direct research and teaching activities and have experience in supervising research students. The area of specialization is Indian Mahāyāna Buddhism. Applicants should have an excellent knowledge of Sanskrit for teaching and research purposes. It is an advantage, but not necessary, if they can read Classic Chinese Buddhist texts.
