Sciences Po, Paris (FRA)

• Assistant Professorship in Environmental History (19th and/or 20th C)
• "The objective for the creation of this new post is the development of a research field in environmental history at the Center for History at Sciences Po (CHSP). It will be integrated into at least one of the research domains at the CHSP, and it will contribute to reinforce the CHSP’s central research axis, which is political history understood in its broadest possible terms"
• Teaching Load: 2 courses (24 hours) until 2018, three courses from then "Other than the teaching of environmental history as such, the successful candidate may also have to teach in more general areas of history. The ability of the candidate to teach subject matters that reach beyond the strict limits of her/his research interests and her/his knowledge of international debates in history will therefore be appreciated."
• All subject areas related to environmental history may be considered, but the links with the research fields at CHSP, and a perspective of political history understood in very broad terms, will be essential"
• "Candidates with an international track record regarding their research, their professional activities, their teaching experience, their publications and their linguistic competence will be given a preference. A solid knowledge of English is indispensable. A working knowledge of French will be required within a stipulated number of years after appointment. For those candidates who do not have a solid knowledge of French at the time of application, teaching will initially be carried out in English."

Urban History

Aarhus University (DEN)

• Associate Professor (?tenured) in Urban History, to begin 1 Feb 2016 or as soon as possible thereafter
• With the job follows the position as Director of the Danish Centre of Urban History, which is organised and financed in collaboration with Den Gamle By Museum (the Old Town, Open-Air Museum) in Aarhus.
• The successful applicant must have strong research profile qualifications in the fields of urbanity and the history of urban spaces and culture within a time frame that ideally covers the period from the Middle Ages until the present. Research must be both deep and broad enough to qualify as an associate professor.
• The associate professor will be expected to teach and supervise students at all levels (BA, MA and PhD) and contribute to the development and application of innovative teaching methods involving (when possible) the facilities and collections of Den Gamle By. A special assignment of the job will consist of contributing to the development of the special study of cultural history within the MA programme in history.    
• Applicants must have a PhD or equivalent qualifications in history, preferably within urban history, as well as documented teaching qualifications equivalent to those acquired in an assistant professorship.
