  • I doubt they did AHA--as i remember the original ad said preference would be given to applications submitted before 5 Jan, which would make it effecitvely impossible to do a full round of AHA interviews. • Contacted about AHA interview (12/9 x3)
  • Contacted about AHA interview (12/10)
  • Contacted about AHA interview (12/13)
  • Invited for on campus (1/12)x2
    • Did you hear via phone or e-mail? Since I haven't gotten any word I imagine I'm a reject, just wondering when I should expect that.
    • Email from the search chair. x2
    • Guess the rejection will be sent via snail-mail (if at all).
  • Has an offer been made?
  • FYI - I think they easily meet the criteria for interview "shit list" for not even bothering (as of February) to inform people who didn't make the on-campus cut. Way to treat people you met like garbage.
    • As somebody who had an on-campus, I have to disagree with the above poster. The department was amazingly friendly, the dean was genuinely interested in my work, every faculty member attended my talk. I expect that you will hear from the department once its comes to a final decision in the next week or so.
    • I'll second this comment; I likewise encountered nothing but friendliness, hospitality, and graciousness during my on-campus visit.
    • Note to the above two - you were invited to on-campus, *of course* they were nice to you. As for the rest of us? Twisting in the wind. A little shocking considering they met us, we weren't nondescript faces in a pack of CVs.
    • Fair enough.
  • Offer made (not to me).
    • How did you learn this? --Email from department chair (2/7)
  • Got a rejection letter (as did plenty of my friends). Curious - did the offer not go through? Citadel just opened up a "visiting prof" position for 2012-2013?
  • I have 100% reliable information that the search concluded and a candidate accepted the offer.

  • Review begins: 24 Feb. 2012
  • Anyone heard anything? --Nada (3/15) - Nothing (3/27)
  • rejection after inquiry from chair. down to a shortlist of 5. good luck (3/29) Sorry to hear that - did they say if they had contacted the short list or no?

12/13 I am suspicious that this wasn't a real search. I really admire UPitt's dept., but wonder if any candidates were interviewed for this job. We are a small field and no one heard a thing. Can someone dispel my cynicism?
