  • The Department is particularly interested in those whose research would diversify the Department's strengths in Brazilian, Caribbean, and Andean history.
  • To apply submit the following materials online: a letter of application stating research interests and qualifications, curriculum vitae; a short (article- or chapter-length) writing sample, and the names/contact information for three references.

  • Job link: http://umass.interviewexchange.com/jobofferdetails.jsp?JOBID=53325&CNTRNO=2&TSTMP=1412207626590
  • This is kind of confusing. At first glance, I thought it meant that applications from Brazilianists, Caribbeanists, and Andeanists were particularly welcome, but on a second reading, I decided that it meant that they already have people who specialize in this, so they're looking for someone who doesn't study Brazil, the Caribbean, or the Andes. Thoughts?
    • Entrail readings of course and one should always apply because SCs are unpredictable, but "diversify' here likely means that they're looking for someone not in those areas (so prob Mexico or Argentina, given what other faculty there and at the Five Colleges do and don't do).
