Bucknell University (USA: PA) - History of Science, Medicine & Technology

• Tenure track assistant professor of the history of science, technology or medicine, to begin July 2015
• The search committee will consider scholars whose research examines any aspect of the history of science, technology, or medicine in the world outside of the United States between the early 1600s and the end of the 19th century. The committee seeks candidates whose work is embedded within broader social, economic, and cultural processes; whose work has a global, transnational, or colonial aspect; and, whose work is confined neither to the history of the philosophy of science nor to the intellectual history of a discrete scientist. A PhD or ABD is required.

Ohio University (USA: OH) - History of Science and/or Technology in the Modern Age

• The Department of History at Ohio University invites applications for a new position in the history of science and/or technology in the modern age. Research interests should reflect the social, economic, ecological, or political context of scientific/technological development. The chosen candidate will offer courses in both the history of science and technology and in a traditional geographically-defined field. An ability to teach classes with a global and comparative perspective is preferred, but candidates specializing in all geographical fields are encouraged to apply.
• The successful candidate will develop introductory and upper-level survey courses within his or her discipline, and participate in interdisciplinary courses at the introductory or advanced level in collaboration with colleagues from other disciplines, including the natural sciences.

    • Is this the same person that had references requested? Not sure if anyone else got/will get campus visit invitations...or I should cross this job from my list. 
    • If you did not get a request for references, cross it off your list. Even if you did get a request, the head of the search committee usually sends out campus invites at the same time as there are only 3-4, and it looks like they went out Friday/Saturday. Don't hold your breath for Harvard, if they never contacted you, they never will. Move on.

    • Um, you aked i.e. Harvard too. Are you new to job wiki?... You do realize not every candidate looks at job wiki, or simply does not make edits... If you see *just* one person make an edit for a rejection/writing sample/references/Skype/on-campus, you can safely assume *all* emails/phone calls went out already. So if you haven't heard from JHU, cross it off... Also, if this is your first year on the TT job market, understand that the committee, 9 out of 10 times will *not* contact you *at all* to tell you that you're not being considered. Only if you get a Skype/AHA conference interview will they *sometimes* tell you that didn't get a campus invite...
