The Department of English at Dalton State College is seeking applicants for a tenure-track position in English. The position requires a Ph.D. in English (with a minimum of 18 semester/30 quarter graduate hours in English). The successful candidate will have a genuine interest in and commitment to teaching freshman composition and lower-division courses in the humanities and a firm commitment to a learning-centered teaching process. Applicants with credentials to teach in Rhetoric and Composition, who have experience teaching multicultural literature (especially Hispanic or Latino), or who have experience in teaching ESL may be given preference.

Responsibilities of the position include teaching eight classes per academic year. Teaching assignments may be day, evening, or weekends, possibly at off-campus locations. Franklin College (IN) - TT Assistant Professor of English (Multiple Positions)

Due to faculty retirements, Franklin College invites applications for three positions in English to begin August, 2015. Two of these positions will be tenure-track, and the other position will be a full-time, renewable instructorship that may become tenure-track in the future. Located approximately 30 minutes from culturally rich downtown Indianapolis, Franklin College is a private, four-year liberal arts college.

For these positions, we are seeking generalists who can teach three or more of the following: Romantic, Victorian, British Modernism, Early American, American Renaissance, American Realism, American Modernism, Postcolonial, Creative Writing (poetry and / or fiction), and Rhetoric and Composition. A demonstrated interest in directing the college’s writing center is a plus, as is the ability to teach world literature survey or literary theory. Each candidate will teach three courses a semester, two of which are composition. Broad service to the college such as advising and committee work is required of the tenure-track positions.

Candidates who can demonstrate a dedication to teaching and a genuine interest in working with undergraduates in a small, collegial liberal arts setting that emphasizes close student-faculty interaction will be given preference. College-level teaching experience required. ABD or Ph.D. preferred; Ph.D. is required for tenure.

Penn State Shenango invites applications for an Instructor of English (Fixed-term, multi-year appointment - 3 years with option for renewal, 36 weeks) to begin August 2015, or as negotiated.

Responsibilities: Teach four undergraduate English courses (12 credit hours) using traditional and blended delivery modes. Courses may include Rhetoric and Composition, Technical Writing, Business Writing, and Basic Writing, as well as some general education literature courses. Teaching assignments may require teaching day, evening, and/or Saturday classes as needed. Develop and teach distance-delivered courses. Participate in course, curriculum, and program development. Advise students and provide career guidance. Participate in campus, university, and community service activities. Engage in activities to stay current in the discipline.

Qualifications: Ph.D. in English or related field preferred; M.A. considered. Specialty in technical communication or rhetoric and composition and a commitment to high-quality instruction in a student-centered environment are required. Interest in active and collaborative learning, the instructional use of technology, and hybrid and online teaching is an advantage. Successful record of college-level teaching required. Enthusiasm for working in a multidisciplinary environment is also important.
