  • Assistant Professor/Faculty Fellow position in the Center for European and Mediterranean Studies. The initial appointment will be for one year beginning September 1, 2015, renewable annually for a maximum of three years, pending administrative and budgetary approval. 
  • CEMS/NYU seeks a scholar specializing in one or more of the following fields: comparative European and Mediterranean politics, anthropology, or sociology, or contemporary or recent European and Mediterranean history. We are particularly interested in candidates with research and/or teaching interests concerning the European Mediterranean regions. Additionally, we would value academic interest in the European Union.
  • Responsibilities include teaching three courses per year and an advising load (with MA students and undergraduate majors). Advisement is a key component of this position. Service to the program will also involve representing the Center at university occasions and committee meetings.

Missouri State University (USA: MS) - Ancient Near East and/or Mediterranean

  • Although the research specialization is open, the department expects the successful applicant to teach introductory and upper-division courses on Greek and Roman history and encourages the development of new specialized course offerings. Candidates should specify all areas in which they could teach.

  • The Department of History, University of British Columbia (Vancouver) invites applications for a tenure-track appointment at the rank of assistant professor in the history of early modern Europe, with an expected start date of 1 July 2015. The department is interested in candidates who focus on the history of western or central Europe during the period 1450-1700. All applications are welcome, but preference will be given to scholars whose work complements and expands on the department’s existing strengths.
  • Candidates must possess a Ph.D. (or provide solid indication of imminent completion), and they should provide evidence of excellence in research, as demonstrated by their published contributions or by potential contributions to the scholarship of their field.   • The successful candidate will be expected to have a strong research and teaching agenda in European history (post-1500), and able also to contribute to teaching broader survey courses in world history and the history of civilizations and empires. The rank and field and specialization are open, but the Department would prefer to hire a candidate at the level of Associate Professor.   • We seek an historian of modern Britain with the capacity to teach courses about Britain and its citizens/residents as international actors, engaged in relations with other nations and peoples, whether politically or otherwise, whether formally or informally.
